The Woman in the Sceptic Tank (2011), Philippines
A recent festival circuit favorite, this is a sharp and witty little post modern indie about a team of 3 young and cool film makers set out to make an indie film about poverty in the Philippines in order to enjoy free trips to international film festivals it will screen at and ultimately win an Oscar too. Film is at times hilarious and poignant in its insights into the film making process, the self awareness and cynicism of film makers and actors (beautifully exhibited in Eugene Domingo’s performance of herself). The musical sequence is a standout.
